Our mission is simple
Reduce motorcycle theft through knowledge, action and rider advocacy.
Motorcycle theft is a daily reality for riders across the UK. Thousands of bikes are stolen every year, and while theft rates have improved, recovery rates remain painfully low. Too many riders only learn about security after walking out to an empty space.

We believe riders deserve better. Better advice, better information, and a stronger collective voice.

That's why we created The Motorcycle Security Project. A trusted, independent resource built by riders, for riders.

What we do
Publish practical, experience-based security advice
We gather insights from the riding community as well as through data and research, and present them in clear, actionable guides. No jargon, no marketing spin - just information you can actually use.

Explain how security really works
We break down security ratings, testing standards, and the techniques thieves actually use. Understanding how locks are tested, why immobilisers get bypassed, and what ‘Sold Secure Gold’ actually means helps you make smarter choices.

Share data and industry insights
We look at what insurers require, what manufacturers are doing, and what's working in the fight against theft. Transparency matters, and riders deserve to know where the gaps are.

Advocate for riders
We work with community groups to raise awareness, push for better parking infrastructure, and lobby authorities to take motorcycle theft seriously.

How we work
Independent
We're not affiliated with any manufacturer, insurer, or security brand. Our aim is to inform, not sell.

Rider-led
This project is run by people who ride and who understand the frustration, cost, and emotional toll of bike theft. We're building the resource we wish had existed when we started riding.

Transparent about funding
Running a website costs money. We use affiliate links where relevant, and may occasionally feature sponsored content or advertising. When we do, it will always be clearly labelled. Money never influences our editorial stance - if a product is poor, we'll say so, regardless of any commercial relationship.

Why it matters
Most riders only learn about security after they've had a bike stolen.
By then, it's too late. The bike is gone, the insurance claim is a headache, and the replacement costs more to insure. The emotional impact of losing something you've worked for, maintained, and enjoyed is harder to quantify but no less real.
We're here to change that. To give riders the knowledge and tools to protect their bikes before theft happens, not after.
Motorcycle theft can be preventable. It takes effort, investment, and a shift in how we think about security as riders. But it's possible.
This project is part of that effort.

If you'd like to support the project, get in touch - we're always looking for collaboration, stories, and rider experiences that can help others.
