Editorial Guidelines

Our Commitment

The Motorcycle Security Project exists to give riders clear, accurate and independent information that helps reduce motorcycle theft.

These guidelines explain how we create and review our content.

1. Independence

  • Brands cannot buy influence or positive coverage.

  • When we use affiliate links, we clearly label them and they never affect our opinions.

2. Accuracy

  • We base our content on data, recognised standards and rider experience.

  • Facts and analysis are kept separate from opinion.

  • If information changes or we get something wrong, we update it.

3. Clarity

  • We write in plain English.

  • We avoid jargon, marketing buzzwords and scare tactics.

  • Our aim is to make motorcycle security understandable for every rider.

4. Practicality

  • Recommendations must be realistic for real riders in real situations.

  • We prioritise methods that are supported by real-world evidence and experience - not gimmicks or trends.

5. Review & Updates

  • Data-led content is reviewed regularly and updated when new information becomes available.

  • Articles include "last updated” timestamps where relevant.

6. Rider Advocacy

We advocate for riders by:

  • raising awareness of motorcycle theft,

  • sharing knowledge across communities, organisations and partner platforms,

  • challenging poor security information and highlighting what actually works.

In Short

We’re here to help riders protect what they love. If our content helps even one person avoid the misery of motorcycle theft, this project is worth it.
